Transformer explosion sparks small brush fire on North McCarran

A small brush fire ignited on North McCarran Boulevard today after a power transformer malfunctioned and exploded.

The fire, estimated to have burned approximately 1/8 of an acre of vegetation, was quickly contained by fire crews.

No structures were damaged in the incident, and no injuries were reported. NV Energy crews remain on the scene.

According to NV Energy , 288 customers are without power due to the transformer being out of service.
