Transformer explosion causes road closure, power outages in area of Brick Boulevard

BRICK - Brick Boulevard is closed from Drum Point Road to Pine Tree Road due to a transformer explosion in the area, police said.

There is no active fire, but wires are arcing on the road, said Sgt. Anthony DeMaio.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Jersey Central Power & Light Company's website reports just under 5,000 customers in the vicinity are without power.
