Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts Mid

May 11, 2023

Paramount's live-action Transformers franchise takes a big step forward, as the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts mid-credits scene sets up the future.

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts!

There is a Transformers: Rise of the Beasts post-credits scene that helps set up the franchise's future. Paramount's live-action Transformers franchise continues with its seventh installment overall. However, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is the second film in a new continuity that Bumblebee began. The 2023 movie introduces new human characters and multiple new Transformers factions as the Autobots come into contact with the Maximals, Terrorcons, and Predacons - all while Unicron looms.

Even before the movie's release, Paramount confirmed plans for upcoming Transformers movies with Rise of the Beasts beginning a new trilogy. This created an expectation that the movie would in some ways play a major role in setting up Transformers 8 and Transformers 9. While some of this setup occurs with the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts ending G.I. Joe reveal, it has also become more common for Hollywood franchises to include end credits scenes to tease what comes next. Bumblebee did this with some mid-credits scenes, which could leave audiences wondering if Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has a post-credits scene.

Yes, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts does have a post-credits scene. The tag begins to play shortly after the credits sequence begins, similar to how Bumblebee included a few additional scenes after its actual ending. There is only one Transformers: Rise of the Beasts post-credits scene, and it is better classified as a mid-credits scene based on when it plays. This means that viewers do not need to wait around until the very end of the credits to catch a second surprise.

The Transformers: Rise of the Beasts post-credits scene is worth waiting for, and thankfully Paramount and director Steven Caple Jr. do not make audiences wait long to see it. The contents of the scene will not be discussed here to avoid spoiling what happens, but it is worth stating that it factors into setting up a Transformers: Rise of the Beasts sequel. Whereas some movie franchises have used credits scenes to include a final joke or seemingly random scene, that is not the case here. Those who want some additional insight into the future of the Transformers franchise need to wait and watch it.

The Transformers: Rise of the Beasts mid-credits scene confirms that Mirage is alive after Noah rebuilds him. Pete Davidson's Autobot character seemingly died fighting Scourge during the final battle, but it was then revealed that he was still barely alive. Mirage needed Noah to take control to stay alive due to the damage he sustained, which is why he transformed into a human-sized Transformer suit. Noah takes Mirage's suit form back home to New York and spends time working on repairing him using old car parts. This allows Mirage to fully return in Transformers: Rise of the Beast's post-credits scene.

Mirage looks very different than he does throughout most of the movie based on Noah's repair job. Instead of Mirage's classic Porsche design, various pieces of his body have been replaced with different colored pieces that are older and dirtier. The good news for Mirage is that this new look should only be temporary. Since the Autobots have the ability to scan other vehicles to change the make and model of the car they emulate, Mirage could take on any number of new forms in his next appearance. The key to Transformers: Rise of the Beasts' mid-credits scene is confirming that Mirage and Noah's story will continue.

Mirage being alive and with Noah is set up for the future, but it is unclear when the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts mid-credits scene will be paid off. Paramount has confirmed plans for a new trilogy, but there is no confirmed release date or creative team attached officially. While the studio might want to wait and see how the movie performs at the box office before investing more money into the franchise, that is not the main reason that there is uncertainty regarding where Mirage and Noah will return.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts' mid-credits scene might be set up for Transformers 8 or continue the film's surprise G.I. Joe reveal. The safe bet is that Mirage and Noah will be seen next in Transformers 8. They are positioned as the new human and Autobot duo for this trilogy to follow, similar to how Sam Witwicky and Bumblebee were at the center of Michael Bay's original Transformers trilogy. Unless Paramount wants to introduce a new human lead for the third straight franchise entry, Noah and Mirage should be back in Transformers 8 to play substantial roles once again.

There is still a chance that Mirage and Noah's future will connect to G.I. Joe after Transformers: Rise of the Beasts' ending twist. A new G.I. Joe movie could explain that Noah accepts Agent Burke's offer to join the G.I. Joes and brings Mirage with him, even if none of the other Autobots or Maximals come. This would be an opportunity for Paramount to kick off a new G.I. Joe franchise with characters that audiences already know and pay off the Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover tease quickly. In either case, the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts post-credits scene should not be the last time audiences see Mirage and Noah.
