Jevon Terance holds fashion show at Oasis Marina in Lorain, creates for Transformers film

Jul 09, 2023

Jevon Terance is celebrating successes along the lake.

The international designer and brand showcased the summer/fall 2023 Desert Nights collection during a fashion show June 4 on the Oasis Marina Mile Long Pier, 301 Lakeside Ave. near the shores of Lake Erie in Lorain.

The Dubai-inspired collection displayed the transition of resort wear throughout various activities with a heavy emphasis on accessories and the brand's logo.

Terance said he is overwhelmed by the show's response.

"I’ve been hearing people's reactions, and it actually gets me emotional," he said. "It's crazy to see how everything turned out because I dreamt this.

"It was exactly how I envisioned it."

The designer encouraged attendees to wear their own clothing and merchandise from the brand.

"This was something new that we implemented, and it was great to see," Terance said. "It's been 16 years, so there's enough clothing out there in order to spotlight what people have loved and spent their hard earned money on, and that was a cool aspect of how it all came together."

Terance announced June 4 that he designed five looks for Paramount's "Transformers: Rise of the Beast" film, which releases in theaters June 9.

"Being able to design for the film was a dream," he said. "I’ve worked with the costume designer multiple times before and I was honored that she thought of me and wanted to include my designs in this feature film."

Since most of the production was done during the novel coronavirus pandemic, Terance said all of the designing was done in Lorain.

"The movie is based in the 90s, and as a 90s kid, I got to relive my childhood and pull out those memories and nostalgia for the design journey," he said. "I wanted to share the experience with everyone while it was happening and I’m happy to finally be at the point where I can talk about it."

Terance said he's honored to represent Lorain as the brand continues to reach new heights.

"Being able to work with Hollywood and having your work trusted on such a high level to be featured in one the largest franchises, is surreal," he said. "Living in a small town, we may not think we can do things on a world-wide level, but we can and we’re worthy of it, and I’m very grateful to showcase the opportunities possible."
